11:38 AM, Altadena, CA. Once again, here’s a hybrid or my process of cannibalizing my work to make new pieces. I wanted to combine the dog picture with my first digital iPad drawing of Haruki Murakami’s novel called Norwegian Wood.

10:56 AM, Altadena, CA. I first saw this breed of dog about 5 years ago and I’ve been hooked. She’s a Shibu Inu, an ancient breed from Japan and this one can be traced to Shikoku, Japan.

4:57 PM, Altadena, CA. When I saw my snapshot of the octopus, I vividly remembered the craziness of the Tsukiji Market. The place was a surreal mix of frantic activity and bizarre sea animals of every size and shape. The digital drawing of the paperback book seemed to sum up the seafood market experience.

1:07 PM, Tokyo. Seafood is huge in Japan and it seems to originate from the Tsukiji Market. The market is famous for its auctions and sheer amount of seafood that passes through the place. I don’t know how sustainable this is but it was very interesting to see it. This vendor was showing off an octopus.

5:23 PM, Altadena, CA. There is a wonderful Indian restaurant and grocery store in southern California. Actually, there are probably a lot of them. This one had shelves full of exotic and unusual products. I took a snapshot of one product called “Ahmed Jelly”. My guess is that it was jello.

10:16 AM, Ft. Bragg, CA. I carry a point and shoot camera. They’re great tools especially if it has zoom capabilities. My little Sony has a 20x optical zoom that worked for this snapshot. Clearly, this was just a typical and uneventful scene for this geographic area.
