10:52 AM, Altadena, CA. I liked the manicured bushes that I saw in various spots in downtown Los Angeles. Even though shaped hedges are the epitome of landscaping banality, they were exciting to use in this piece.
12:00 PM, Los Angeles, CA. I like to do image “window shopping” by shooting snapshots through store windows. Interesting reflections and unexpected highlights occur and that is good. This was probably from a poster for a cosmetic company.
11:56 AM, Altadena. CA. The book Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell is a dense, multi-layered work and it seemed fitting to layer its image on the Japanese movie poster.
Mixed Up at 3:11 PM, Altadena, CA. I’m still in the “cannibalization” mode. The weird combination of my snapshots using Jackie Chan and rocks from a Japanese garden was the basis for a mixed media painting.
