I’m changing what I remember from the Shanghai Museum. This is an experiment about altering memories. It’s also about the meaning of narratives and in this case there are several interpretations.

10:52 AM, Altadena, CA. I liked the manicured bushes that I saw in various spots in downtown Los Angeles. Even though shaped hedges are the epitome of landscaping banality, they were exciting to use in this piece.

Mixed Up at 3:11 PM, Altadena, CA. I’m still in the “cannibalization” mode. The weird combination of my snapshots using Jackie Chan and rocks from a Japanese garden was the basis for a mixed media painting.

Odd Coupling at 11:51 AM, Altadena, CA. I was thinking about strange couples and for me, an interesting combination was a book by Man Ray and my old Nintendo Entertainment System.

12:08 PM, Altadena, CA. I like images that provoke weird alliances or in this case, unusual disruptions. Here, ramen meets a custom car. The car was in a postcard that I picked up at the Pasadena City College swap meet in Pasadena, CA. The initial combination was not calculated but the final result with the disintegration of the car was.

4:57 PM, Altadena, CA. When I saw my snapshot of the octopus, I vividly remembered the craziness of the Tsukiji Market. The place was a surreal mix of frantic activity and bizarre sea animals of every size and shape. The digital drawing of the paperback book seemed to sum up the seafood market experience.
